May 30th, 2017 - Week 42

Sorry I'm posting this a day late. My allergies have been really bad the last couple of days and in my Benedryl induced haze I completely forgot to check my email yesterday. Here is what we got from Griffin.

Hello and welcome again to my email. And now that I have you in here I will give you this week, just another in a long string!!!!!!!!!! (starts maniacal laughter here, swivels his chair away into the darkness)

So this week was pretty good, we got a couple new potential investigators. One is who we call the family it's B (dad), P (mom), N (daughter), J (son), and T (son). They're really cool N seems the most interested, but the whole family agreed to meet with us and we're meeting with them tonight. Then we had a lesson with another investigator named T, and we got him on date for July 28!!!! Right now in our area we've been working on organizing our efforts and getting the ward involved, so far it's worked pretty well.

This week the city is getting ready for huuhdiin bayar (childrens holiday). It's a big holiday where everything shuts down and people take their kids to a couple of fairs around town and the circus. That's on Thursday so Thursday I will have a ton of pictures and videos. I'm super excited, people are already getting ready for it!!!!!

Also this week my companion and I talked and we decided that we wanted to try charcoal face masks, so we did!!!!

On a more spiritual side, I been reading a lot about hope and faith and, like in Moroni 7:40-41, we must have faith to truly believe in Christ. Yesterday we had an appointment with a non-member man so we could give him a blessing. He has cancer and he's been fighting it for the last couple years, he told us about his life and how he was in America for a long time, but  ran out of money and had to return to Mongolia. I shared this scripture and we talked about the power the Atonement has to heal us and uplift us.

May 22nd, 2017 - Week 41

Here is what we got from Griffin this week:

Hey again all my friends and family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are all of you doing? I'm doing well. Right now I'm sitting in an internet cafe, listening to George Michael and Guardians of the Galaxy sound track, while a man is standing behind me trying to sell me some computer parts. ADVENTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So this week was really slow I taught English as usual, had a good time at the hospital, and ate an AWESOME cake. So a few weeks ago an optometrist at the hospital wanted to thank us for teaching English, she promised that she'd bring me and Udall a cake. A few weeks pass by, Udall and I thought that she had forgotten, and we didn't mind. Then all the sudden we passed by her room and she yelled for us to come in. We go in and she had a chocolate cake that had (real) peanut M&M's and a giant Kit-kat on it. She gave me and Udall this cake and we both ate all of it. It was super good! It was really cool that she did that for us, we thanked her and talked for a little while, then we ate lunch and we felt super sick, but it was a good sickness. Then on Sunday we had a couple Elders over and made lunch and I was on the chicken frying duty, that was a mistake. I was n't attention to one of the pans with chicken and all the chicken burned, it smelled so bad and the chicken was like rocks, there wasn't even any chicken left. Then afterwards we had to get rid of some of the grease from before so I got rid of it in a cup, here is that cup...

Then there is a holiday here in Mongolia called no car day, it's a blast. They have a marathon and other crazy events in the center of the town, and since no cars or buses run that day everybody just walks in the middle of the streets. And in the middle of the city they have a big show and they had this rapper guy ... rapping!
It was a good time. But overall this week has been really good. More adventures await.!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suck guys I almost forgot about these guys. These are missionaries from another church here in Mongolia. Andersen and Spencer are pretty cool they both are from North Carolina and go to Chapel Hill, they were doing charity work here we had a couple lesson with them. They also made us breakfast, Andersen makes really good French toast! But they're really cool people.

May 17th, 2017 - Week 40

Here is what we got from Griffin this week:

This week was pretty slow. We just did the usual taught english, did missionary work, ... taught repentance and baptized converts!!!!! This week we had one of our super solid investigators go out to the countryside, so hopefully she stays safe. I've been praying for her, we've been working on getting missionaries out to where she is in the Gobi. But I think that when she comes back that she'll want to keep learning. Then this week I got to skype my family back home. It was soooooo nice to see them again and see how they're doing. It was awesome!!! The mission has been doing really good. I don't really have a ton of pictures from this week. So here some cool pictures you might enjoy.

May 8th, 2017 - Week 39

Here is what we got from Griffin this week:

HOWDY HOWDY HOWDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey everyone this week was another week in lovely Mongolia!!! I don't have any new pictures from this week, but I can assure you that I'm still alive and having fun. This week was just pretty slow. However it was really good cause we got another investigator on date and we got another new investigator, named Chuldumsuren, he's super cool and seems pretty ready to learn the gospel. It was really cool cause our other investigator named Chagaa, who we have on date for October explained what a testimony is to him and was super helpful. The rest of this week was pretty slow, just teaching English and trying to find people to teach. But love you all and next week I'll have more pictures!!!!
So I'll just talk about the silver Chingis. It's enormous!!!!!!!! It's taller than the Statue of Liberty, and it's actually two sections, the horse and Chingis. And there they had this guy who was letting us hold eagles. I GOT TO HOLD AN EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!! That's like one of my life goals next to having an eagle and having a bear as a steed! So I'm happy with that decision. But inside the statue they also have the worlds biggest boot!! HECK YEAH!!!!!! RIGHT!!!! But it was really cool and we are some of the few American missionaries to have gone in a very long time, so it was a very special privilege.

He didn't send any new pictures, but he did send the one of him holding the eagle again and the giant boot.
